Our Staff

Rev Dane Deatherage – Pastor/Head of Staff

Pastor Dane has served as the Senior Pastor of Calabash Covenant Presbyterian Church since December 2022. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Communication from the University of Tennessee, a Master of Divinity from Beeson Divinity School, and is currently finishing his doctoral project at Reformed Theological Seminary, Charlotte. Dane came to know Christ at a young age desiring to be on “Jesus’ team.” He worked in Student Ministry for 10 years in churches as small as 70 members and as big as 2500 members. Ordained by the Evangelical Presbyterian Church (EPC) in 2016, he pastored EPC congregations in Sumter, SC, and Chattanooga, TN, before becoming the Senior Pastor of Calabash Covenant Presbyterian Church. Over the years, Dane has enjoyed many hobbies: football, martial arts, guitar, reading, writing, and contemplation. These days though, when he is not serving as pastor, you can usually find him spending time with his wife and his three children.

Rev Robson Gomes – Assistant Pastor, Missions – Brazil

Robson is married to Juliane for almost 40 years, and they have 3 daughters and 3 grandchildren. He is a second career pastor, having worked in large companies as a Human Resources Manager before dedicating himself exclusively to the Ministry of the Word. He is a third generation of Presbyterian pastors and has served for several years as seminary professor at the presbyterian seminaries in Belo Horizonte and São Paulo. He continues teaching, as a visiting professor, at the Presbyterian Theological Seminary in Moscow, Russia. Today he is fully dedicated himself to the advancing of the missional movement nationally, while pastoring a missional community in Belo Horizonte. He is also responsible for planting ECO in Brazil. He is a Steelers fan, but also enjoys watching and playing soccer. He enjoys cooking and spending time with family and friends.

Janine Zegel

Janine Zegel – Administrative Assistant/Bookkeeper

I moved down south a few years ago from New Jersey.  I love living at the beach.  I have three grown children and will be a first time Grandma in 2023.  I have many hobbies, but my passion is running.  I have completed 17 marathons, including 2 Boston marathons.  You can find me running most mornings on the Beach in North Myrtle Beach.  I am grateful that God put me at CCPC and for all the wonderful people I have met here.

Gloria Wimmer, CLP – Prayer Leader

Moved back to the Carolinas after a career with AT&T in the North East. I claim Charleston, SC as my home town where I accepted Jesus as my Savior and was baptized. I moved to Sunset Beach in the mid 1990s, was led to CPC and there convicted to make Jesus the Lord of my life. That began my pursuit to become a Commissioned Lay Pastor in the PC(USA), followed by training as a CLP under ECO in 2019. I enjoy serving the Lord, reading, playing golf and vacationing with my sister and my nephews.

Annelle Waldron CLP 2

Annelle Waldron, CLP2 – Whiteville Campus

As a Commissioned Lay Pastor, who has served the church as a CLP for almost 20 years -14 years with PC-USA and 3 ½ years with ECO, I am presently on staff with CCPC serving the Whiteville Worshipping Community. Presently, we are a gathering of 12-16 people ranging in age from teenagers to those over 70. I love time spent with them as they are hungry to study God’s Word. Being raised in the church, I don’t recall a time when I did not know that Jesus Christ was my Savior; however, I committed my life to Him as a young person, and was baptized at the age of 10. Rob and I celebrated 50 years of marriage in 2018. We have three wonderful daughters, 8 grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. Besides spending time with them, I love greeting God at sunrise on the end of our pier at White Lake – for me, its is nature’s sanctuary and a place of prayer; and it is the place I accepted my call to ministry.

Peg Stinnett, CLP – Music Director

I joyfully serve as both music director and Commissioned Lay Pastor here at CCPC. Church was always part of my life but I truly accepted Jesus into my life as a teenager. We moved to this beautiful area from Maryland but both my husband and I are originally from the Shenandoah Valley area of Virginia. We met in high school, have two wonderful children, a son- and daughter-in law, and three amazing grandchildren. My favorite pastimes are spending time with family, vacationing with friends, and sitting near the ocean with my feet in the sand reading a good book!

Karen Scheboth, CLP – Children’s Ministry

Bob and I just celebrated 39 years of marriage. When we retired, we prayed about where we should live. We now reside in the Calabash area and have been here for the past five years. I am enjoying retirement, and continue to thank God for His blessings. I am now a Commissioned Lay Pastor at CCPC. My passion is to paint pictures using acrylics while listening to Christian artists sing. It is a form of prayer and meditation while painting. I like to walk on the beach or around the neighborhood, to swim, but most importantly — we just became grandparents!

Loretta Burkett – Nursery Attendant

My acceptance of Jesus Christ began as a 12-year-old child and has strengthened throughout the years.  I have worked in church childcare all my adult life, primarily nursery and with young children.  The best part is the love given by children and to watch them grown and learn about Jesus.

My husband, Richard, and I are involved in Beach Ministry, Drive Thru Prayer, and our neighbor prayer group.  We are truly blessed.
