COMMON PRAYER OF CONFESSION
Almighty God, you poured your Spirit upon gathered disciples creating
bold tongues, open ears and a new community of faith. We confess that we hold back the force of
your Spirit among us. We do not listen
for your word of grace, speak the good news of your love, or live as a people
made one in Christ. Have mercy on us, oh
God. Transform our timid lives by the
power of your Spirit, and fill us with a flaming desire to be your faithful
people, doing your will for the sake of Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.
ASSURANCE OF PARDON
God’s life giving word and spirit enable us to live in a new obedience, opening new possibilities of life for society and the world. Thanks be to God for the Good News that in Jesus Christ, we are forgiven. Amen.

Jesus
wants you to have assurance of the salvation that he offers. FIRST, he reminds
us that: “All have sinned and fallen
short of the glory of God.”
THAT: “The wages of sin is
death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus, our
Lord.” He
tells us again: “For by grace you
have been saved through faith. And
this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works,
so that no one may boast.” AND
FINALLY: “That God has given us
eternal life, and this life is in his son.
He who has the son has life; he, who does not have the son of God,
does not have life. These things I
have written to you who believe in the name of the son of God, so that you
may know that you have eternal life.”
[IF YOU LIKE TO EXPLORE THIS ASSURANCE
IN YOUR LIFE, PLEASE CONTACT ONE OF THE ELDERS OR THE PASTOR TO EXAMINE
THIS IN MORE DETAIL.]

THE APOSTLES’ CREED
I
believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and in Jesus
Christ his only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the
Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he
descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended
into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from
thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Ghost; the
holy catholic church; the communion of saints;
the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.
THE NICENE CREED
We believe in one God the Father Almighty,
Maker of heaven and earth, and of all things visible and invisible; And in one
Lord Jesus Christ, the only-begotten Son of God, begotten of the Father before
all worlds, God of God, Light of Light, Very God of Very God, begotten, not
made, being of one substance with the Father by whom all things were made; who
for us men, and for our salvation, came down from heaven, and was incarnate by
the Holy Spirit of the Virgin Mary, and was made man, and was crucified also
for us under Pontius Pilate. He suffered
and was buried, and the third day he rose again according to the Scriptures,
and ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of the Father. And he shall come again with glory to judge
both the quick and the dead, whose kingdom shall have no end. And we believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord
and Giver of Life, who proceedeth from the Father and the Son, who with the
Father and the Son together is worshiped and glorified, who spoke by the
prophets. And we believe one holy
catholic and apostolic church. We
acknowledge one baptism for the remission of sins. And we look for the resurrection of the dead,
and the life of the world to come.
Amen.
